Annual Spring (or Fall) Charity Event - The proceeds from this annual event helps to support the West Orange Christian Service Center and/or other groups as designated. Banner/Altar Guild - The Banner/Altar Guild provides a spiritual atmosphere for the chancel area for the worship of God on Sunday mornings. The Banner/Altar Guild members make and care for the beautiful banners that we see each Sunday in the sanctuary. Christian Education - The Christian Education committee creates a well-rounded program of Christian Education that will help bring Windermere Union Church children to Christ, teaching them to be loving, empowered disciples. Fresh Start - Windermere Union Church provides and serves the evening meal on the 23rd of each month. Fresh Start is a short-term residential program designed for rebuilding and restoring the men who live there and are seeking a new beginning. Hand Bell Choir - The hand bell choir (Windermere Union Ringers) rehearse every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. If you are interested in joining the hand bell choir contact Dave Bushnell at flringers@yahoo.com or at 352-243-3312. Get your name on the list and join in on the fun! Missions - The Missions committee acts as the contact for Global and United Church of Christ missions. In service to others, recommend and organize local community missions, coordinate any other Windermere Union Church to community outreach, and support activities deemed appropriate. Music - The music is provided by the Windermere Union Church choir. Their style is the the well known traditional music. This group is led by our talented choir director, Kevin Harris. Kevin is also a member of The Voices of Liberty at Disney's Epcot and a private vocal coach. He has won several national conducting awards. Choir practice takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Pastoral Care - The Pastoral Care committee brings others to Christ through visits, meals, communion and other appropriate assistance to those members of Windermere Union Church and friends that cannot come to church. They send letters and cards for celebrations and concerns, assist with food and fellowship following funeral and memorial services. They interact with senior cititzen groups and sponsor senior dinners and outings. Worship and Spiritual Life - The Worship and Spiritual Life committee recruit and oversee acolytes, working with church youth to empower them through service during worship. The committee set-up for communion by providing bread, juice and serving trays. They select and change vestments for weekly service, organize special services-holidays, and assist with the music program for weekly services and special services. |
